Kathrin Bode studied Chinese language in Bonn and Wuhan, Hubei Province. She worked as a lecturer for German as a foreign language at the universities in Bonn and Cologne and from 2015 to 2019 at the Foreign Languages University in Tianjin. In 2020 she started teaching at the Hong Kong Baptist University. She translated short stories by Chinese authors Ye Shengtao and Zhou Daxin from Chinese into German. Most recently, she translated poems by the poet Lin Bai, published in minima sinica and Hefte für Ostasiatische Literatur. She is currently working on translating a collection of short stories by author Feng Jicai. She has only recently become aware of authors living in Hong Kong and is enthusiastic about the dynamism and creativity of this literary scene. Together with Jörn Grundmann, she hopes to make literature from Hong Kong accessible to the German-speaking audience.
