Dr. Huiru Liu, Trier, Germany

Born in August 1960 in Xinzhou, China, Huiru Liu first studied German at Fudan and Peking University. After completing his bachelor's degree, he continued his studies in Modern German Literature, Philosophy and Rhetoric at the University of Tübingen in 1983. In 1992 he received his doctorate and in the same year he began his work as a lecturer for the subject of Sinology at the University of Trier, where he still works until today. From October 2013 to September 2014, Huiru Liu was visiting professor for the subject area of Chinese at the Department of Translation, Linguistics and Cultural Studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (in Germersheim), and from October 2015 to September 2016, he was visiting professor for Teaching Methodology of Chinese at the East Asian seminar at the Georg-August University in Göttingen.
