Carolin Becks has been a freelance translator (Japanese/English into German) since 2016. 
She is a member of the association of German literary translators (VdÜ) and the association of audiovisual translators (AVÜ). 
Until early 2022 she also worked as a language teacher at the private language school “Nihon Dialog”, teaching German and English to the Japanese community in Duesseldorf.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts (English and Modern Japan) at the Heinrich Heine University Duesseldorf, 2013
- Master of Arts (Japanese Language and Translation) at the University of Bonn, 2016
- Participated in several exchange programs in Japan: studied a year abroad at Bunkyo University in Saitama Prefecture, did a joint research project about language education at the University of Tsukuba, presented at the International Student Forum at Ochanomizu University in Tokyo and spent a summer with a host family in Mie Prefecture
- Studied a year at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London
