Xiujie Wu was born in 1967 in Liaoning, PR China. She studied Chinese Literature, Folklore Studies and Ethnology in Beijing, Shenyang and Berlin. In 2007 she received her PhD from the Freie Universität Berlin. Research and translation employments have taken her to the China Center of the Technical University of Berlin, the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle (Saale), the Ethnological Museum of the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
Since 2013 she has dedicated herself to the translation of academic works from German and English into Chinese. The main areas of focus include social anthropology, cultural studies and the history of science. She is particularly interested in the translation of works that deal with the biography of historical personalities in a literary way.
