Gudrun Ingratubun
After studying English and agriculture, Gudrun Ingratubun became a literary translator and artist. She lived in Indonesia for five years where she learned Indonesian and worked for the programme department of the Goethe-Institut Jakarta. She lives in Berlin with her three children since 2010 and initiates creative book projects for children and young adults. She has been translating short stories, novels and poems from Indonesian into German since 2014. In 2016 she received a scholarship of the Berlin translator workshop at Literary Colloquium Berlin. She then worked for several years as a consultant for the Indonesian applications for the Robert Bosch Foundation’s grant „Grenzgänger“.
She also moderated the reading group Lesekreis indonesische Literatur in Berlin. At the TemuSastra series of literary events organized by the Indonesian cultural center in Berlin, Gudrun Ingratubun regularly worked as an interpreter, translated literary texts and maintained close contact with the guest authors. In 2020 she was awarded a grant from the German Translator Fund for research on Intan Paramaditha's novel Gentayangan.
In her own artistic works she applies the ecoprint technique and in her plant prints she deals with the diversity of forms in nature, but also with the vulnerability of nature caused by humans.
