Annette Hug

Annette Hug was born in Zurich in 1970. She studied history at the University of Zurich and «Women and Development Studies» at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. After working as a fundraiser, journalist, college lecturer for community development and as union organizer, she now makes her living as a free lance writer in Zurich. Her third novel, «Wilhelm Tell in Manila», was awarded the «Schweizer Literaturpreis» by the Federal Office of Culture in 2017. It is, as of now, being translated into French and Korean.
In 2021, her novel "Tiefenlager" came out at Wunderhorn. For "Wilhelm Tell in Manila", a novel about José Rizal's translation of Friedrich Schiller's William Tell from German to Tagalog, she has travelled again for extended periods of time and intensified her intellectual contacts in Manila. This led to a first translation project: The poems of Luna Sicat Cleto. Annette Hug would love to invest herself in a continued work of literary translation from Filipino (Tagalog) to German.

In the pitching session 3 March 2022 she introduced:
Aswanglaut (novel) by Allan N. Derain, Philippines
