Elisabeth Ruge

Elisabeth Ruge is an editor, publisher and literary agent. She studied English, American and Slavic studies in Frankfurt a.M., Moscow and the US. After working as an editor at S. Fischer Verlag, she founded Berlin Verlag in 1994 together with Arnulf Conradi and Veit Heinichen. She attended to famous authors like Svetlana Alexievich, Ingo Schulze, Péter Nádas, Zeruya Shalev, Victor Erofeyev, Jonathan Littell and Philippe Pozzo di Borgo. In 2011, she established the Berlin branch of Carl Hanser Verlag, which she subsequently headed for three years. Today she runs her own agency, the Elisabeth Ruge Agency (ERA), founded in 2014, which represents over 200 authors. Elisabeth Ruge is also a translator and author.
