Born in Vevey, Switzerland, in 1967 and raised in Australia and Switzerland, Florence Widmer studied English and art history in Zurich and received her doctorate in comparative literature from the University of Texas at Austin. After graduation, she worked as a university lecturer for several years. At Übersetzerhaus Looren she is primarily responsible for the areas of promoting young talents, grants and events, and she moderates discussions on literary translatio.
